Pieris japonica - © Charles Hipkin
(Thunb.) D.Don
An attractive, small, evergreen, ericaceous shrub with toothed leaves, which produces sprays of tubular, white flowers in spring. It is native to Japan and very widely cultivated in gardens, amenity areas, parks and industrial estates. It may become a relic of cultivation but it does not naturalise. It is rarely recorded as a wild plant in West Glamorgan.
