Galanthus nivalis Snowdrop

Blodau'r Eira

Linnaeus

Galanthus nivalis is a very familiar, early spring-flowering plant which is native to damp woodland and meadows in Europe. It is a neophyte alien in the British flora where it was first recorded in the wild in 1776. It has become naturalised in a number of woodland and hedge habitats in West Glamorgan, particularly in south Gower, e.g in Bishopston Valley, where it occurs in large attractive populations in Spring.
