A large, shrubby, perennial spurge which is native to the Mediterranean and widely grown in gardens It was first known in the wild in Britain in 1686 and is scattered throughout southern Britain, but less commonly in Wales. it probably occurs most often as a garden throw-out and may persist for several years where established. It may also spread and become naturalised by seed set, but to a lesser extent. Records from West Glamorgan are all from lowland coastal areas.
