Catapodium marinum Sea Fern-grass

Corwenith-Wellt y Morfin

(L.) C.E. Hubb.

Catapodium marinum, Sea Fern-grass, is a small, stiff grass with a closed and tightly arranged, unbranched inflorescence. It has a largely coastal distribution in Britain where it  occurs on sea cliffs, sand dunes, shingle, walls and along pavements in seaside towns. It is also found increasingly inland along roads that have been gritted with salt in winter. It is frequent and widespread in habitats along the coast in West Glamorgan and is found all along the M4 from Penllergaer to Margam and along the A465 between Neath and Aberdulais.
