Carex remota Remote Sedge

Hesg Anghysbell

Linnaeus

A tussocky sedge with narrow, grass-like leaves which grows on siliceous or peaty soils, usually in shaded locations where there is a high water level. The relatively small, sessile spikes become more remote from each other towards the base of the stem giving it a characteristic appearance. It is very common in Britain and it is widely distributed and abundant along the edges of deciduous and coniferous woodlands and other partially shaded habitats all over West Glamorgan.
