Pill Sedge is a tufted sedge with thin, wiry, arching stems. It is widespread in dry, acidic grasslands, heathland and moorland throughout Britain and occurs throughout West Glamorgan in these habitats. Where it occurs in coastal cliff grasslands it can be confused with Spring Sedge (Carex cayophylla) which is shortly rhizomatous and prefers basic, calcareous soils.
