L.
Callitriche palustris, Narrow-fruited Water-starwort, is a very rare Water-starwort in Britain of nutrient-poor, slightly alkaline, oligotrophic waters. It can be identified more or less unambiguously by its mature fruits, which are black, longer than broad and scarcely winged. It was unknown in Britain and Ireland before 1999 and it may be a recent introduction to the British and Irish flora. There is one remarkable record of it in West Glamorgan from Cefn Bryn, made by Quentin Kay in 2004.
