Callitriche agg. Water-starwort

Water Starworts (Callitriche agg.) are a challenging group of aquatic plants which are difficult to identify in the field. It is essential to examine the flowers and the fruits to get an accurate identification. Fortunately there is an excellent monograph on the Water Starworts of Europe (BSBI Handbook N0. 11) by Richard Lansdown (2008) which provides detailed keys, descriptions and line drawings. Five Callitriche species have been recorded in West Glamorgan, Callitriche palustris, Callitriche obtusangula, Callitriche brutia, Callitriche stagnalis and Callitriche platycarpa.
