L.
Bromus secalinus, Rye Brome, is a very distinctive, annual brome grass and an infrequent species of arable fields, particularly those of winter cereals. It is a good example of a crop mimic, an adaptation that allowes it to grow as a weed along side the cereal crop, escape detection and be dispersed with it. Most records of Rye Brome in West Glamorgan are from the southern parts of Neath Port Talbot, one of the few areas in that local authority where there are arable fields.
