Botrychium lunaria Moonwort

Crib y Ceiliog

(L.) Sw.

Botrychium lunaria, Moonwort, is a small fern with a distinctive appearance. The pinnate leaves have moon-shaped leaflets, hence its common name. It is a very uncommon species of dry, usually calcareous grassland in West Glamorgan and the only recent records here are from Gower. However it is difficult to find, easily overlooked and more often or not, stumbled upon.
