Atriplex x gustafssoniana A. longipes x prostrata

Tascherau

Atriplex x gustaffsoniana is the hybrid between Spear-leaved Orache (Atriplex prostrata) and Long-stalked Orache (Atriplex longipes). Plant Atlas 2020 describes this as a frequent hybrid of the upper salt marsh and a plant of disturbed places on sand dunes and estuarine habitats. It also occurs along coastal roadsides. Atriplex species in coastal habitats can be very difficult to identify and the occurrence of hybrids like this complicates the matter significantly. The status and distribution of Atriplex x gustaffsoniana  in West Glamorgan is largely unknown at present but it has been recorded here and it could be more widespread than hitherto suspected.
