L.

Atriplex portulacoides (Halimione portulacoides), Sea-purslane, is an unmistakable, grey-green, sprawling, perennial sub-shrub of saline habitats on saltmarshes and is particularly common on the banks of saline dykes and creeks. It is very salt tolereant and often dominates large areas of saltmarsh. It is a Medterranean-Atlantic species which has extended its range northwards along the coasts of Britain during the last 100 years. It is a widespread and uniquitous component of saltmarshes and estuaries in West Glamorgan.
