Astragalus glycyphyllos Wild Liquorice

Geuperwraidd

Linnaeus

Astragalus glycyphyllos, Wild Liquorice, is a fairly robust, straggling, perennial legume which produces leaves with 7 or more  leaflets and  heads of greenish-cream flowers. It is a plant of grassy places and while it may be locally abundant it often occurs in isolated populations. It may be decreasing in many parts of Britain and it is rather scarce in Wales. It is very local in West Glamorgan with strong, persistent  populations in rough grassland near Brunel Dock, Briton Ferry, where it has been known for at least 50 years.
