Aster lanceolatus Narrow-leaved Michaelmas-daisy

Blodyn-Mihangel Culddail

Willd.

Aster lanceolatus (Symphyotrichum lanceolatum), Narrow-leaved Michaelmas-daisy, is one of a number of perennial, rhizomatous, North American Asters that are grown in gardens and become relics of cultivation or garden escapes. There are a number of cultivated hybrids that provides a significant source of confusion which frequently leads to misidentification.  Narrow-leaved Michaelmas-daisy is one of the most common of the Michaelmas Daisy garden escapes and it can form quite large invasive populations where it is established. However, it is easily confused with Common Michaelmas-daisy (Aster x salignus).
