Amaranthus albus, White Pigweed, is annual species native to North America which has become naturalised throughout Europe. It is a casual weed of nutrient rich waste ground although it was cultivated in Britain in the past. Most occurrences probably arise from seed introduced with grain or birdseed, but it is rarely recorded in West Glamorgan.
