Adoxa moschatellina Moschatel

Anfri

L.

Adoxa moschatellina is an ancient woodland indicator species which, in West Glamorgan, is associated mostly with loamy soils in the deciduous woodlands and hedgebanks of Gower. There are few records from Neath Port Talbot and this may represent a genuine absence from the more acidic and podsolic substrates that are found in the Sessile-oak woodlands of the South Wales Coalfield. Its occurrence in suitable habitats in mid and south Glamorgan is consistent with this. It is a small and rather inconspicuous plant, always a joy to find, which can be overlooked easily unless seached for diligently.
