Acer negundo Ashleaf Maple

Masarnen Dail Ynn

Linnaeus

Ash-leaved Maple (also known as Box Elder) is a North American maple quite unlike other maples in that it produces compound leaves like those of Ash (Fraxinus excelsior) and Elder (Sambucus nigra), hence its common names. It grows quickly in cultivation and is reputed to be resistant to Honey Fungus (Armillaria mellea). It is popular as the variegated variety (Acer negundo var variegatum) which is rarely found naturalised in West Glamorgan.
