Inocybe curvipes

P. Karst.

Inocybe curvipes is a common Fibrecap in Britain, usually occuring in open areas near Birch. However there have been few collections of it in West Glamorgan and it is probably underrecorded. It has a prominent umbo on its brown cap, which is quite scaly, but it is difficult to identify on field characters alone and microscopic examination of spores and gills is needed for comfirmation. The spores are nodulose with lumpy warts and more or less 5-sided. The cheilocystidia on the gills are balloon-like, often with a short projecting apex but few or no encrusting crystals.
