Pseudephemerum nitidum Delicate Earth-moss

(Hedw.) Loeske

A very small, synoicous, acrocarpous moss which is a pioneer colonist of bare, damp acidic soils. It has a largely southern distribution in Britain, most commonly in the west, and it is fairly widespread in Wales. There are scattered records of it in West Glamorgan. Sporophyte capsules are usually abundant throughout the year and particularly in summer and autumn.
