(Muell.Hal.) A.L.Andrews
A realitively large thread moss, up to 2cm tall, which grows in open ruderal habitats often on sandy or gravelly soils. It has a single, brownish bulbil in the leaf axils with rudementary leaves that extend to half way down their sides (see photo). It has a distinct western and northern distribution in Britain and it has a scattered western distribution in Wales. It is very rare in West Glamorgan with just two recent records from the uplands of Swansea and Neath Port Talbot. It is dioicous and sporophyte capsules are rare in our region.
