(Hedw.) T.J.Kop.
A very common, dioicous, acrocarpous moss which occurs on soil in woodlands that is not too acidic and also on wet soils and the rocky banks of streams and rivers. The pale-green, somewhat translucent leaves are much longer than broad, tongue-shaped and undulated and quite unlike those of other thyme-mosses. It is perhaps more easily confused with Atrichum undulatum, which also has undulated but darker green leaves that are more pointed and with logtitudinal ridges. It is ubiquitous in Britain and found throughout Wales, including West Glamorgan. Sporophyte capsules are rare.
