(Bruch & Schimp.) T.J.Kop.
A dioicous, acrocarpous Thyme-moss which grown in base-rich flushes, marshes, fens and wet woodlands. It can be confused with Plagiomnium affine but the leaves are longer and less oval and they run down the stem rather broadly so that there is a winged edge. Plagiomnium elleipticum is another source of confusion but its leaves do not run down the stem. It has a scattered and predominantly western distribution in Britain and it is occasional in Wales. It is comparatively rare in West Glamorgan where it occurs in wet alder carr woodland along the Tennant Canal near Crymlyn Fen and in flushed marshy grasslands in the Dulais Valley and Gors Llwyn. Sporophyte capsules are unknown in Britain.
