Orthotrichum anomalum Anomalous Bristle-moss

Hedw.

A dark-green, autoicous, acrocarpous moss which grows on base-rich boulders, stones, concrete and mortered walls. Sporophyte capsules are usually abundant and conspicuous in spring and, unlike many other Orthotrichum species, held above the leaves. It is common throughout Wales and much of Britain except the north of Scotland. It is found frequently throughout West Glamorgan.
