Leptodictyum riparium Kneiff's Feather-moss

(Hedw.) Warnst.

An autoicous, pleurocarpous moss found on logs and the bases and roots of trees and their branches in wet or humid places, often in woodland near streams or other water bodies. In the Mosses and Liverworts of Britain and Ireland field guide it is described as a medium-sized, dull-green, irregularly branched, rather nondescript moss. It has a predominently southern and eastern distribution in Britain and in Wales it is most common in the southwest. Although it has scatterd distribution in West Galmorgan it is generally rather local and scarce overall. Sporophyte capsules are common.
