(L.) Dumort.
A Suboceanic, dioicous leafy liverwort which grows as an epiphyte on trees but also on rock and in grasslands in coastal areas. Unlike many other Frullania species it tends to have a bushy growth form with brown-green or reddish shoots. It is a characteristic epiphyte of Atlantic, temperate rainforest woodlands but it is by no means confined to that habitat. It has a western distribution in Britain and it is frequent or common in much of Wales except in the south east. In West Glamorgan it is most common along the south Gower coast but it is also found in the Atlantic river valley woodlands of Neath Port Talbot. Sporophyte capsules are occasional throughout the year.
