Corb.
A winter-green, perennial frillwort which is very similar to Fossombronia caespitiformis and considered to be just a form of it by some bryologists. It differs in having pale coloured, rather than purple, rhizoids. Both species grow in similar habitats and are not considered separately in the Atlas of British and Irish Bryophytes (see description of Fossombronia caespitiformis). However, frillworts with colourless rhizoids have been recorded along the south Gower coast and have been mapped in West Glamorgan.
