Fissidens taxifolius Common Pocket-moss

A very common, medium-sized, autoicous Pocket-moss which occurs on acidic clay soils in woodland and on hedgebanks. It is widespread and abundant throughout most of Britain except the highlands of Scotlands. It is very common in Wales and found throughout West Glamorgan. The leaves are unbordered, finely toothed and the excurrent nerve extends beyond the tip as a fine point. Sporophyte capsules are frequent.
