Fissidens curvatus Portuguese Pocket-moss

Hornsch.

A small, dioicous Pocket-moss of soil banks in woodland, hedges and on rocky slopes. It has very distinctive tapering, bordered leaves which distinguish it from other Fissidens species. It is very rare Mediterranean-Atlantic species in Britain which is confined to the southwest of England and Wales. It appears to be very rare in West Glamorgan but it may be overlooked. Sporophyte capsules are occasional from winter through to spring.
