Fissidens adianthoides Maidenhair Pocket-moss

A large, autoicous, dark-green Pocket-moss which forms extensive and dense colonies on dripping rock faces, cliffs and ledges, wet walls, wet grasslands, marshes, dune slacks, flushes and poorly-draining coal tips. It is common in Britain except for parts of eastern and middle England. It is found throughout Wales and it is common in West Glamorgan. Sporophyte capsules are occasional from winter through to spring.
