(Bruch, Schimp. & W.Guembel) Hedenaes
An autoicous (or synoicous) pleurocarpous moss of calcareous flushes, dune slacks and mildly salty habitats such as the upper fringes of salt marshes and sea-sprayed cliffs. With its rather starry-looking upper leaves, it is quite unlike other Drepanocladus species and typical hook mosses. It is mostly a coastal species in Britain and is well represented along the coast of Wales. It is locally frequent in West Glamorgan occuring in dune slacks on Whiteford Burrows, in Crymlyn Fen and other coastal wetlands in Neath Port Talbot. Sporophyte capsules are frequent in summer.
