(Hedw.) Bruch, Schimp. & W.Guembel
A monoicous, acrocapous moss which grows in short turfs or tufts on calcareous substrates such as in dune slacks and on calcareous rocky soils including areas dressed with limestone gravel, and more rarely on walls. It is rather scarce in Britain and has declined in some areas and particularly in coastal sites where dune slacks have been lost. It is rare in West Glamorgan where it occurs on Baglan Dunes and nearby open mosaic habitats. It is also found along the edge of a gravelled forest road on Foel Fynyddau above Pontrhydyfen and on a wall near Cymmer at the top of the Afan Valley. Sporophyte capsules are common in summer.
