De Not.
A dioicous, acrocarpous moss that grows in damp grassland, fens and lake margins as well as in dry, calcareous turf. The leaves are relatively long (c. 8mm), straight and have prominent tranverse undulations. Male plants are minute and very rare. It can be confused with other Dicranum species and is probably overlooked for Dicranum scoparium. Most common in the west and north of Britain and scattered in Wales. It is uncommon in West Glamorgan where it is mostly a species of calcareous grassland on the south Gower coast. Sporophyte capsules are very rare.
