Conocephalum salebrosum Snakewort

Szweykowski, Buczkowska & Odrzykoski

Very similar to Conocephalum conicum but the upper surface of the thallus has more conspicuous, grooved lines which are more prominent than the air pores. It prefers drier sites than Conocephalum conicum and is more common on strongly cacareous substrates. It is occasional in Wales, especialy in areas where there is a limestone geology, but it is absent from much of lowland England, including the southwest. It is much less common than Conocephalum conicum in West Glamorgan with a handful of records from Gower and the upland borderlands. It is dioicous and sporophytes are occasional.
