(Sm.) Schiffn.
A very common, small, dioicous leafy liverwort which grows on dry peaty or sandy soils on heaths, woodland tracks, earth banks, mine-spoil tracks and other acidic substrates, including rocks and walls. It is found throughout Britain but is scarce or absent fom many places in the south and east of England. It is widespread and commmon in Wales and is found throughout West Glamorgan especially in acidic habitats. Sporophytes are occasional and produced all year.
