Campylopus brevipilus Compact Swan-neck Moss

Bruch, Schimp. & W.Guembel

An uncommon, dioicous, acrocarpous moss of heathland and moorland where it grows in moist or wet places such as the edges of Shpagnum mires and seasonal pools on humus rich or peaty soils. It is quite scarce in Wales and rare in West Glamorgan. It can be confused with immature forms of the much more common Campylopus introflexus. Sporophyte capsules are very rare.
