Bruch & Schimp.
An uncommmon Bryum of well-drained, calcareous soils in sunny locations, including limestone cliffs and sand dunes. The male and female parts are mixed together (synoicous) in the inflorescence at the top of the shoot, unlike the very similar and much more common Bryum capillare, where male and female parts are on separate plants (dioicous). In both species, sporophyte capsules are common. In West Glamorgan it is only found on the limestone cliffs along the south Gower coast.
