Anomodon viticulosus Rambling Tail-moss

(Hedw.) Hook. & Taylor

An attractive, dioicous, pleurocarpous moss of dry, shaded, base-rich habitats such as calcareous rocks and walls with old mortar. It is locally abundant in Britain and in West Glamorgan it is largely confined to limestone rocks, particularly in the Gower Ash woodlands. Outside Gower it is rare on old walls. Sporophyte capsules are rare.
