Viola arvensis Field Pansy

Blodyn Wyneb Mwnci

Murray

An annual violet with comparatively small cream flowers, which grows on well-drained, neutral or basic soils as a weed of disturbed cultivated ground such as arable fields and gardens and also in waste places. Although it is found throughout much of Britain it has declined in numbers in recent decades, particularly in northern and western Britain. In West Glamorgan it is a frequent member of the arable flora in Gower but it is rather scarce elsewhere in the county where it is occasional along the coast. There are few inland records but it may be overlooked as a weed of gardens and allotments.
