Crassula tillaea Mossy Stonecrop

A tiny annual  which grows on sandy or gravelly ground, tracks and paths, particularly in places which are kept open and free from competition such as car parks or caravan parks. It a Submediterranean- Subatlantic species which is uncommon in Britain with strongholds in Breckland and, remarkably, northeast Scotland. Until recently it was very rare in the west but it appears to spreading along the coast in southwest England and in Wales. It is still very rare in West Glamorgan with a few records from coastal sites in Gower and Neath Port Talbot. Range expansion is expected to continue in line with the current trends in milder winters.
