Wallich ex Lindley
A small tree which is deciduous or evergreen in Britain. It is a native of the Himalaya, introduced here in the early 19th Century. Most records in West Glamorgan are from the Swansea area where it occurs sporadically as a garden escape or a relic of cultivation. It is frequently seen in amenity plantings on industrial estates and retail parks where its large bunches of bright crimson fruits make it quite conspicuous. The hybrid between Cotoneaster frigidus and Cotoneaster salicifolius (Cotoneaster x wateri) is also commonly planted.
