Calystegia sepium subsp. sepium Hedge Bindweed

Calystegia sepium subsp. sepium (Hedge Bindweed) is the most common bindweed in the British flora and its large white, trumpet-like flowers are a familar site where it climbs through the vegetation of hedges, reed-dominated marshes and fens. It can also become a troublesome weed in gardens. It can be confused with Large Bindweed (Calystegia silvatica) whose white flowers are much larger and have 2 large bracteoles that overlap each other at the base of the flowers.
