L.
Amaranthus retroflexus, Common Amaranth (Pigweed), is a downy, grey-green annula weed of nutrient rich waste ground. It produces oval, pointed leaves on long stalks and tight clusters of green flowers amongst bristle-like bracts. It is probably the most common of the casual Amaranth species in Britain but it is relatively scarce in Wales and there have been few records of it in West Glamorgan.
