A typically infertile, crustose lichen that typically grows over mosses and other organic material on siliceous rocks and acid-barked trees. Recorded in November 2024, at the northern end of Rhossili Down, this species occurs amongst quartz-conglomerate outcrops and boulders associated with the Brownstones Formation, formed during the Devonian. Recorded growing over mosaics of moribund foliose vegetation, comprising species such as Cladonia spp., Dicranum scoparium, Hypnum cupressiforme and Parmelia saxatilis.
