(Fr.) P. Kumm.
Inocybe lacera is a common Fibrecap in Britain. It likes well drained, sandy or gritty soils, often growing in association with Pine or Birch. It occurs frequently on old coal tips in West Glamorgan particularly where there is some Lodgepole Pine. It has a prominently scaly, brown cap and young specimens have a web-like cortina covering their gills. The spores are much longer than broad, which is a useful microscopic identification feature for this species. The cheilocystidia on the gill surface have a cluster of encrusted crystals at their apex.
