Pilat
Similar to other oysterlings and only separated from them safely after microscopic examination. Spores broadly elliptical, about 10microns in length, clearly verrucoid (see photo) and quite different from those of Crepidotus cesatii, Crepidotus epibryus and Crepidotus variabilis, which are all more common. Presence of clamps on hypahe is an important identification feature (see photo). Cheilocystidia are somewhat flexuous and bent at the tip and cap cystidia are distinctly crooked (see photos). Just one collection in West Glamorgan from the bark of a dead Goat Willow (Salix caprea) at the edge of a Sitka Spruce (Picea sitchensis) coupe in Bryn Forest. The fan-shaped fruiting bodies which were up to 10mm in daimeter (mostly 3-7mm) and clustered in a large group (photo). There are few other records of this species in Britain but it has been reported from Somerset and Oxfordshire (as Crepidotus bickamensis).
