Cortinarius pilatii is a relatively small webcap with a faint pelargonium-like smell and a brown, umbonate cap which usually has a pale edge. The cap dries out to a paler, tan-brown colour. It occurs in broad-leaved woodland, hedgerows and scrub and is probably widespread but under recorded in West Glamorgan.
