Weissia controversa var. crispata

(Nees & Hornsch.) Nyholm

This variety of Weissia controversa is largely confined to calcareous habitats and in West Glamorgan it is frequent on the limestone soils of the south Gower coast. It can be distinguished from all the other varieties by its red nerve which is very wide (70-100 microns) at the base.

A general description of Weissia controversa is given separately.
