With.
A small, dull-green, paroicous (monoicous), leafy liverwort that grows on acidic (less often base-rich) rocks, boulders and cliffs in shaded habitats. It has colourless rhizoids and there are 2 or 3 pairs of sack-like, male bracts underneath the pair of female bracts below the perianths. Its western and northern distribution in Britain is very similar to that of Jungermannia atrovirens and it is widespread in Wales. There are scattered records from West Glamorgan from acidic habitats in the South Wales Coalfield but it is absent from Gower. It may be under recorded and confused with Jungemannia atrovirens. Perianths and capsules are common.
