This tiny, creeping moss grows with other epiphytic bryophytes in an irregular branching pattern. Its leaves have a distinctive spiny appearance unlike any other epiphyte found in Britain. Globally, Fabronia pusilla principally occurs in Mediterranean-type climates and it is known from western North America, southern Europe and north Africa. The authors are unaware of other records in Britain of this incidental import.
