Grev.
An uncommon, Mediterranean-Atlantic moss in Britain, most often encountered in south-west Britain, particularly Devon, Cornwall and Pembrokeshire. Overall, however, it is quite rare in Wales where it grows in lane banks, tracks and hedges, usually on sandstone. It resembles Bryum capillare, but is usually shorter in stature with leaves that are widest near the middle with a prominnt, thick, yellowish border. It is dioicous and sporophytes are rarely recorded. In West Glamorgan it is most common along the coast in south Gower with very few colonies recorded inland in Neath Port Talbot.
